Increased Security With Static IP Support in Prisma Pulse

Bring further database security to your real-time applications with static IP support now available for Prisma Pulse. After adding static IP support, you can lock down your database and ensure that only connections from Prisma IPs are able to access your data.

Prisma Pulse enables you to build real-time and event-driven apps that react to any database change. Replace complicated and expensive infrastructure with just a few lines of code! Get started today.

With Prisma Pulse now supporting static IPs, all current (and future!) Prisma products will use our reserved IP range. Enabling this feature adds an extra layer of security to your database by restricting access to our known, trusted IP range. With static IP support, you can now easily integrate Prisma Pulse into your existing security infrastructure.

Getting started

To ensure that connections from Prisma Pulse only come from static IPs, make sure to enable static IP support in Prisma Pulse.

Enabling static IP support is only available on environment creation. Existing environments can not be updated to add static IP support. For existing environments, we recommend creating a new environment with static IP support enabled using the same database connection string as your previous environment. You can then update your code to take advantage of static IP support.

  1. Log in to your Prisma Data Platform account
  2. Navigate to your desired project and select "New environment" An image showing the Prisma Data Platform and specifically a project titled "My first cloud project". There is a green "New environment" button on the top right.
  3. After entering a new environment name, select "Get Started" under Pulse, and enter in your database connection string. An image showing the new environment page in the Prisma Data Platform
  4. Then toggle the "Static IP" button to get a list of IPv4 and IPv6 addresses.
  5. Add the list of IP ranges that Prisma will use to your database firewall's IP allowlist.
  6. Click on the "Create environment" button.

Important note

With the release of static IPs in Prisma Pulse, we've expanded the IPs that we use to connect to your applications. We strongly recommend you update your infrastructure to accept our expanded range of static IPs. Even if you don’t use Prisma Pulse, matching our new list will ensure that you do not experience any disruption in the future.
